Gingivitis is easy to recognize. The gums become red, swollen, and bleed
easily. If not treated properly, it may progress to a more severe
disease and result in tooth loss.
The role played by plaque in Gingivitis:
In 1960, a research shows that people who stop brushing their
teeth and let the plaque in their mouth build up for 2 - 3 weeks,
developed signs of infection, redness, swelling and increase
tendency to bleed. When they started to brush again, the
inflammation went away.
